I’m in … getting down like the Dropkick Murphys

So it’s no big surprise at this point if you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram that I am officially in the 2016 Boston Marathon.

My time of 3:04:06 which I ran at the California International Marathon back in December 2014 placed me in the BQ-5 category which allowed me to register in week one of the registration process. However, I wasn’t getting my hopes up until I actually got my confirmation of acceptance yesterday morning via email.

This has been a long process to get to this point where I go from marathoner to Boston Qualifier. Now there is one more step to this journey as I prepare for the 2016 Boston Marathon where I will toe the line and cross the finish. For me the journey won’t be complete until Patriot’s Day on April 18, 2016 when I cross the finish line get the medal around my neck and then I can proudly sport the Boston Marathon jacket!

It has taken me 26 marathons to get to this point where I am able to share my successes of earning a spot in the most prestigious marathon in the world. My first marathon I ran was 4:58:xx and to have worked so hard to get that qualifying time, I am yes proud of it!

Since last year when I didn’t get into the 2015 Boston Marathon, I printed out my denial note from the BAA as a consistent reminder to keep working and chasing after my goals. I placed the email near my running shoes so that every time I laced up my Skechers I would be reminded of what I was working for and going after.

So the journey continues for that unicorn, but now rather than chasing the chance to toe the line it is a matter of running the 26.2 miles that Boston has to offer!

Are you in for Boston 2016?
