Fit Friday: Another Month, More Miles
I cannot believe that 2013 is over half way completed. As each month passes, I really get excited to see how many miles I have put into running this year. After committing back on December 10, 2012 to working to become a better runner, I have removed cross training from my workout routine and saved my legs and energy for running. Based on some reading and chatting, the only way to get better at running is by running. Now don’t get me wrong I think cross training has it’s benefits especially if you are injured, but for me running is the only way for me.
So far 2013 has brought me some fantastic running, experiences and continued to allow me to meet awesome people via online and in real life. In just over half the year completed I have already ran 3 marathons, 1 ultra, and accumulated more miles (2000+ miles ran) than I thought I would at this point, as well as running everyday so far. My monthly mileage for 2013 is as follows:
- January : 331 miles
- February : 358.46 miles
- March : 272.58 miles
- April : 266.58 miles
- May : 314.47 miles
- June : 238.65 miles
- July : 269.62 miles
In August, I will continue to train for my upcoming September marathon. However, before the month ends I will be partaking in the Hood To Coast Relay, covering 199 total miles with a group made up mostly of runners from Michigan. Along with runners from Michigan, the team also includes fellow 2013 San Francisco Marathon Ambassador Wes.
