workout: 10 minute run, 6 x 400 meters with 90 second rest intervals, 2 minute 30 second set rest, 6 x 400 meters with 90 second rest intervals, 10 minute cool down jog. (total 12 – 400s)
I love my Tuesday speed workouts, there is just a different kick that I get from them. I feel like there is more of a workout when the heart rate is up and I am breathing hard at the end of the sprint. Don’t get me wrong I mean I love my long runs as well, but there isn’t that same feeling when you go peddle to the metal and just let the legs go and the lungs work. Getting a hard 400 meter run in is just a different feeling compared to putting in a 10 or 11 mile run. In the end my long runs are what I enjoy most and will continue to make that my focus, but it is nice to have these speed workouts during the week to keep me excited about things.
