This morning was a cold, windy, and wet morning out in Davis. But still people made their way to the start line for the 5k and 10k run/ walks that was being held in Downtown Davis. I was very pleased with my run today, as I threw it in there to replace my 5 mile training run. I officially finished 7th in my age group, 46th overall with an average pace time of 6.45 per mile (41.54 total time). The down side to the route was the winding path on the bike trail, as it really prevented us to pick up speed and have a consistent stride, as the winding was very tight and continuous. A couple of weeks remain between now and the CIM, and there is still one more official race I have and that falls on Thursday, The Run to Feed the Hungry. It will be interesting to see how my 10k times stack up against one another. I know the race on Thursday has a much larger field, and some top runners, but the only thing I am competing with is my own time. I do know that the better the field, the better my runs have become. The photo to the left was taken at the finish line, after I threw my layers back on after crossing the finish line. It was too cold to stand around in my running tank waiting for the official times to be posted on the results van.
