Run: Active Rest
Additional Workout: Insanity Cardio Abs
Today’s workout was on the lighter side. I want to make sure I have the legs for the 18 miler tomorrow morning. Over the last couple of weeks I have been swaying back and forth with what to do since the Insanity 9 weeks program has completed for me for the second time. With four weeks remaining until the SF Marathon, I thought it would be wise to not repeat the Insanity calendar but rather to pick and choose the different workouts between P90X and Insanity as additional workouts on my run days and active rest days. I will begin to start incorporating some shoulder work, and primary core workouts rather than the high intensity plyometric workouts. I hope this is a better way of approaching the SF Marathon, which I think it is because it will be good for me make sure I strengthen my shoulders which is always an issue with my longer runs 15 + miles. I also want to make sure that I do not burn my legs outs going into the SF Marathon.
The weather here in Sacramento has been getting a lot warmer, so staying hydrated is going to be very important for me as well as getting those runs in earlier to beat the heat. Training at an earlier time will also be important to get my body familiar to running early since the SF Marathon starts at 5.20 am. Enjoy your light Saturday, get ready for the 18 miler tomorrow, drink lots of water, and most importantly tune into the USA vs. Ghana today at 11.30 AM PST, as they play on the first day of knockout play in the World Cup.
