Moving to the beat

Run: Active Rest
Additional Workout: Insanity Max Cardio Conditioning & Cardio Abs

When I hit the pavement for my training runs, I always have my iPod with me to play my favorite tunes. Like many of you music makes running easier as it keeps us moving and for some keeps us distracted. So with that being said I thought I would share with you some of my favorite “power” songs. My go to jams that I listen to as I trek a 5 miler or a 20 miler. It all starts with my iTunes and I create a 50 song play list, I prefer to shuffle my “Running” play list when I go on longer runs but for my shorter runs I usually play the same songs by starting at the beginning. For those of you that know me Hip-Hop is my genre of choice but I will also mix in a little bit of classic rock in my playlist to keep me moving. Here are my top 10.

1. Not Afraid -Eminem

2. Run This Town – Jay Z
3. Champion – Kanye West
4. B.O.B. – Outkast

5. Ridin’ – Chamillionaire
6. Lights – Journey
7. In Da Club – 50 Cent
8. X – Xzibit
9. Xxplosive – Dr. Dre
10. Lost One – Jay Z

Now obviously each person has their type of music that they can go to when they need that extra push up that final climb or down the final stretch of a long run. These are just my favorite tunes. I suggest you try to use music as a tool to keep you going and moving when your out running. However when it comes to races, I usually am head phone free on runs as I enjoy chatting with other runners out on the course.  As far as the music equipment I run with I load my music on my iPhone (16 GB 3GS) since I carry it for safety in case I need to call, and I use the Nike Vapor Headphones. The Nike Vapors are very light weight easy to adjust, and probably the most durable, clean sounding headphones I have ever used.
