First Hill Training for SF Marathon

Distance with Hills: 6 Miles @ 7.10 pace
Additional Workout: Insanity CORE POWER AND RESISTANCE DVD by Beach Body

After hitting another PR this weekend in Lodi, CA at the Avenue of Vines Half Marathon I thought I would start blogging my runs and workouts. My PR from this past Sunday is 1 hour 31 minutes and 8 seconds (6.57 splits). I finished 28th overall and 6th in my age group.

Today starts the 10 week count down to the San Francisco Marathon on July 25th. So to get ready I thought it would be a good idea to run some hills but not on the trail. Since the SF Marathon takes us through the streets of SF I would need to find some pavement that gave me a good climb. Today’s 6 mile run took place in Folsom, CA. Here is a map of the run FOLSOM 6 Mile Loop . The run starts off with a climb up Broadstone and continues to Empire Ranch, once you get to the corner of Empire Ranch and Iron Point Road, the rest is downhill. And when I mean down hill your flying so be careful going down and make sure to keep your feet under you. Once your work your way down to East Bidwell the rest is a flat run. This is a good run for a little 6 miler that will get some climbs and flats to work on both speed and going up the hill.
